MICROTEST 8740NK-1024P 1,024-Pin 2-Wire Cable & Harness Tester, 1 kV DC

The MICROTEST 8740NK-1024P is a 1,024-pin 2-wire cable and wire harness tester with continuity measurement from 100 mΩ to 52 Ω. Its two-wire measurement method supports general wiring and connection checks on production cable assemblies. It provides DC Hipot testing up to 1 kV, insulation resistance covering 0.1 MΩ–1.2 GΩ, open/short testing, intermittent-fault detection and resistor, capacitor and diode checks. The 1,024-point K configuration provides additional connection capacity in a 435 × 270 × 360 mm enclosure. Storage for up to 500 test files and RS-232, USB Host, printer and remote interfaces support repeat production work.

The two-wire method suits assemblies that do not require milliohm-level four-wire measurement. Continuity resistance covers 100 mΩ to 52 Ω.

Two-wire fixtures for general harness testing

Use open/short testing to check the learned connection pattern and detect missing or unintended connections. The series also supports single-side testing and pin search.

Check wiring for opens and shorts

Test dielectric strength and insulation resistance in one instrument. FA models provide up to 1 kV AC and 1.5 kV DC; NA models provide 700 V AC and 1 kV DC; N models provide DC testing up to 1 kV.

Add Hipot, insulation and arc checks

Check components built into the cable assembly alongside its wiring. Component ranges include 100 mΩ to 2 MΩ resistance, 10 pF to 3 µF capacitance and 0.1–6.8 V diode testing.

Verify resistors, capacitors and diodes

RS-232, USB Host, printer and remote interfaces support a production test station. Optional PC Link, networking and remote-control accessories can be selected for the installation.
