Vibration Meters
A vibration meter, also known as a vibrometer, is an instrument that measures mechanical vibrations. While accelerometers are a type of sensor used for this purpose, a vibration meter is a complete, often handheld, device that incorporates a sensor (usually an accelerometer), signal processing, and a display to give a direct reading of vibration parameters like acceleration, velocity, or displacement.
Application:
- Machine Diagnostics: An essential tool for maintenance engineers to quickly diagnose issues in rotating machinery by measuring the vibration levels of bearings, shafts, and other components.
- Quality Control: Used in manufacturing to ensure that products or components, such as electric motors or fans, are operating within a specified vibration tolerance.
- Field Inspections: Ideal for quick, on-site measurements to assess the health of equipment without the need for complex setup.
