The SM6K Series is a 6 kW family of programmable DC power supplies designed for high efficiency, stability, and flexibility. Its constant-power output characteristic significantly extends the usable voltage and current range compared to traditional rectangular-output supplies.
Programming is available via the front-panel UI, the integrated web interface, or Ethernet (SCPI). Optional plug-and-play interface modules expand connectivity and functionality. The Master/Slave module enables parallel operation and series operation where permitted, allowing scalable power systems.
Bidirectional power flow
The SM6K series supports full-power, two-quadrant operation, functioning both as a source and a regenerative load. Voltage and current are programmable from zero to maximum, enabling controlled sourcing and sinking.
In sink mode, energy is fed back into the AC grid with an efficiency of 92 %. Regeneration reduces heat dissipation and can remove the need for external dissipative loads in many setups. With temperature-controlled fans and low audible noise, the SM6K series is suitable for quiet laboratory use as well as demanding industrial automated test environments.
Constant power output
The SM6K series provides exceptional versatility through its constant-power characteristic. It automatically adapts to changing voltage and current requirements across an extended operating range, maximising coverage for demanding applications while reducing the number of power supplies required.
Comprehensive functionality
Standard functionality includes a menu-driven display, digital encoders with coarse/fine adjustment, sequencer / arbitrary waveform capability, and temperature-controlled fans for low audible noise.
Optional plug-and-play modules enable integration into automation environments, including Anybus CompactCom 40 fieldbus options (PROFINET, EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, Modbus-TCP and more), plus Master/Slave operation for scalable parallel (and model-dependent series) configurations.
