Rigol DSG5126 6 Channel 9kHz-12GHz RF Signal Generator

RIGOL Technologies EU GmbH presents a new microwave generator with two different frequency ranges of 9 kHz to 12 GHz and 20 GHz respectively. The instruments of the DSG5000 series are optionally available as versions with 2, 4, 6 or 8 channels, which have a channel-to-channel isolation of up to 85 dB(typ.).

The frequency, amplitude, and all available functions can be set and output individually for each channel or as a group for a desired number of channels.

Depending on the frequency range, the amplitude can be adjusted from -30 dBm to +25 dBm. This series is also characterized by a very low phase noise (e.g. -133 dBc/Hz @ 1 GHz, 10 kHz (typ.)). The harmonics are up to 50 dBc below the carrier, which underlines a very accurate interference-free signal generation.

The amplitude and frequency switching time is <3 ms. RIGOL’s patented fully digital amplitude control technology offers <0.7 dB (typ.) amplitude accuracy. But the generator is also impressive when it comes to frequency accuracy: The frequency accuracy of the 10MHz reference is +/-1 ppm (optional with OXCO; +/-10 ppb). If several channels with the same phase have to be output highly synchronously, this is easily possible with the device.

The generator offers a long-term phase stability of e.g. <1° @10 GHz as well as an individual phase change, which are ideal for lengthy tests. The analog modulation forms such as analogue[AM], frequency[FM] and phase[PM] can be generated over the entire frequency range from 1 MHz via single or all channels. The device also offers the possibility to use pulse modulation with a typical rise/fall time of 20 n sec over the same frequency range. set. Depending on the carrier frequency, the on/off level can be as high as 80 dB (typ.). The DSG5000 series also offers the pulse train function with up to 2047 pulse patterns, for example to create a desired radar profile. Here, too, the pulse widths of the on/off areas can be adjusted as needed from 20 nsec. up to 170 sec.. The integrated sweep function can be used as a list or by means of a selected increment for both the amplitude and the frequency or both in combination
